What is Aviso?

Aviso is an online system that allows students to connect and engage with the College for academic success. It is where students view their academic advisor and set appointments, create and review their individual academic plans, and maintain communication related to academic goals.

What is the Self-Service Student Portal?

The Self-Service Student Portal is a resource CCP students use to view academic progress information, schedule, program evaluation, and more.

Why is South Piedmont email so important?

All new curriculum students are provided with a College-issued Office 365 email account. Your College email account is the official account through which the College and your instructor will contact you. Please check daily for announcements and notifications.

What should I do if I forget my password?

You should email techhelp@spcc.edu and request to reset your password.

Can high school students enroll in CCP programs that don’t match their HS career cluster?

Yes, students may enroll in any pathway for which they are college-ready.

Are high school students allowed to take community college courses from outside their geographic area?

Yes, as long as it is part of their chosen program of study.

How does a CCP student apply to a four-year institution?

They apply as freshmen.

Are students classified as freshmen or transfer students after completing the CT pathway?

This depends on the four-year college or university they apply to, which may impact scholarships.

Can CCP students pursue both college transfer and CTE pathways simultaneously?

Yes, students may participate in both programs concurrently.

Can students use multiple tests to meet CCP requirements (e.g., PLAN, Accuplacer)?

Yes, students can combine scores from different tests to qualify.

Do college transfer or CTE pathway courses count as advanced placement (AP)?

No, they are counted as honors courses.

What happens if a student completes all high school requirements in December?

They can continue in CCP tuition-exempt if they have not graduated from high school.

Who is responsible for advising CCP students?

The high school primarily handles advising, though College staff and career coaches can also provide guidance.

How do high school students apply for CCP?

Students should apply through their high school guidance counselor and complete the online application at CFNC.org.

Can a student be tentatively admitted to CCP based on expected grades?

No, eligibility is based on the student’s GPA at the time of assessment.

Will high school students receive weighted credit for college courses?

Yes, transfer courses receive weighted (honors) credit, but CTE courses generally do not.

What is the minimum number of high school credits CCP students must take?

There is no minimum; this depends on local school board policies.

Do community college courses count as full or partial high school credit?

They count as one full credit.

Are students in CTE pathways required to earn an industry-recognized certification?

No, but colleges should provide information about available credentials.

What is the maximum number of college credits a CCP student can take?

There is no maximum, as long as the student maintains a 2.0 GPA and progresses toward high school graduation.

Is tuition waived for home-schooled and private-schooled CCP students?

Yes, tuition costs are covered for CCP students.

Who pays for students’ textbooks?

The community college and local education agency must decide how to cover the costs.

Do community college courses offered at high schools allow regular college students to enroll?

Typically no, but this decision is up to the school district’s security policies.

Can high school students take community college courses on a self-supporting basis?

Generally no, except for some non-credit courses like safe driving.

If a student takes all their classes at the community college, are they still counted as high school students?

Yes, they are still counted as part of the school district’s Average Daily Membership.

Are there attendance requirements for CCP students?

Yes, CCP participants are held to the same attendance standards as adult students.

Do students need to save a high school course for the spring semester to remain in CCP?

No, if they meet all CCP eligibility requirements, they can enroll without taking additional high school courses.
