Students can earn college credit for what they already know by passing a CLEP examination.

South Piedmont awards credit for 25 different CLEP exams. All exams are multiple-choice questions with a 90-minute time limit. The College Composition exam consists of two essays with a 120-minute time limit. These exams require college-level knowledge and critical thinking skills. In order to do well, you must spend sufficient time studying and preparing for these examinations. The cost of each examination is $89 (subject to change) and is paid online to College Board. South Piedmont charges a $20 non-refundable administration fee per exam to cover administrative costs. You will pay this fee on the day of your exam at the Business Office. If you are paying by check, please make the $20 administration fee payable to South Piedmont Community College. Cash, debit, and credit cards are also accepted.
