Need a High School Diploma? Done.
At South Piedmont Community College, we offer two ways for you to earn your high school credential. Earn the last of your high school credits in Adult High School (AHS), or prepare for a high school equivalency test (like the GED® or HiSET®) through the High School Equivalency (HSE) program. Both options help you get ahead, whether you’re looking to enter the workforce, continue your education, enter the military, or simply achieve a personal goal.
Regardless of which program you choose, you’ll receive instruction in reading, writing, math, critical thinking, and communication.

Adult High School and High School Equivalency Defined
Adult High School (AHS): If you didn’t finish high school but only need a few more credits, this is the best choice for you. You’ll complete the credits you need to earn a high school diploma. Once you’ve finished, South Piedmont will award your diploma in partnership with our local public school system.
High School Equivalency (HSE): This program will help you prepare for the GED or HiSET test. Passing these tests shows that you have the same skills as someone who completed traditional high school. The GED test is taken on a computer, while the HiSET can be taken on paper or computer. Both options are available on our campuses in Anson and Union counties.
Why Choose South Piedmont?
Free classes: All of the classes in both programs are free!
Flexible schedules: We offer classes year-round that give you the flexibility to learn at your own pace.
Supportive teachers: Our instructors are here to help you every step of the way.
Get ahead: A high school diploma or GED opens doors to better jobs, higher pay, and further education. Even better, at the end of your program, you’ll receive a $250 voucher to use at South Piedmont if you’re interested in continuing your education.

Instructors Dedicated to Giving Back
I earned my high school diploma through the High School Equivalency program. Today, I work for South Piedmont as a teacher assistant. My greatest satisfaction in working for South Piedmont is helping each student achieve their goals. Witnessing students earn their GED to find better employment or pursue a college degree is invaluable to me. Thank you, South Piedmont, for giving me the opportunity to help my community.
