Many of South Piedmont’s courses will transfer to the University of North Carolina system! Through the Universal General Education Transfer Component, if you complete a UGETC course with a grade of “C” or better at South Piedmont, you will receive credit for that course at the UNC system. There are some limitations, so work with an academic advisor to ensure you’re getting maximum transfer credit. Learn more about transfer courses.
Many of our courses will also transfer to private and out-of-state institutions, but again, work with an academic advisor and your transfer institution to determine what exactly will transfer.
The Reverse Transfer Program is a collaborative effort between North Carolina’s Community Colleges and the University of North Carolina’s 16 institutions. Students who transfer from one of the 58 North Carolina community colleges to a North Carolina university are given the opportunity to combine the credits earned at the university with credits previously earned at the community college to qualify for an associate degree.
Twice a year, the community colleges evaluate transcripts received from the universities and inform students if they have earned an associate degree. If an associate degree is awarded, the community college will send details on how to obtain a printed diploma and graduation information to the student’s university email.
To graduate from South Piedmont, students must meet residency requirements for graduation. A minimum of 25 percent of the credit hours in the respective program must be completed at South Piedmont.
Visit the University of North Carolina Reverse Transfer Program for complete details.
