The Student Government Association (SGA) represents the South Piedmont student body in matters affecting student life.
All currently enrolled curriculum students are members of the Student Government Association (SGA). The governing board is the SGA Senate, and it operates using an established constitution as its guide. The SGA Senate is comprised of an Executive Board and 20 delegates from various academic programs. The SGA Senate works for you, and whether it is having fun or voicing a concern, the SGA is here to encourage and help students. The SGA President is an ex-officio member of the college’s Board of Trustees and he/she gives the SGA a voice at the college’s highest level. To be effective, we need your participation, input, and suggestions to make life at South Piedmont a truly wonderful experience. Get involved and make a difference today!
- You’ll gain leadership and communication skills.
- You’ll get to attend statewide conferences.
- You’ll connect professionally and socially with students at home and across the state.
- You’ll build your resume while having fun!
The SGA Senate needs 20 delegates from various academic programs and from various locations. Becoming a delegate is easy! All you have to do is fill out a nomination form, get your advisor’s signature as well as the SGA advisor’s signature, maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and donate a little time, effort and enthusiasm. You will be helping us all have a great year!
SGA Senate meets monthly in a selected area on both the OCH campus and LLP campus. Please check your student email meeting announcements. You can also view upcoming meetings at events.spcc.edu.

SGA members typically get accepted to their first-choice transfer university. SGA is a great way to stand out.
Make a difference through SGA!
The Student Government Association is your chance to help shape the student experience at South Piedmont. Have a concern? Voice it to the SGA and initiate change. Have a great idea? Pitch it to the SGA, and they can help you make it happen.
South Piedmont is unique because we allow students to join the SGA in their first year. Many other institutions limit SGA involvement to upperclassmen.
The SGA is also a great opportunity for you to gain serious business skills. This organization oversees a $100k budget, which is great experience to add to your resume. Get involved today!

Others should get involved because there is always some type of event that is happening on campus –whether it is learning about transferring to a university, an educational movie, or making s’mores outside the OCH back patio, the campus is lively!
