South Piedmont Traditions

South Piedmont may be one of the newest community colleges in North Carolina, but we still have many traditions that our students, faculty, and staff enjoy each year. Make sure you participate in the following traditions to gain the full South Piedmont experience.

Welcome Week

Held at the start of every semester, Welcome Week is a long-standing tradition that brings students together through fun activities, free giveaways, and opportunities to connect with clubs, campus resources, and fellow classmates. It’s our way of saying, “We’re glad you’re here!”

Hotdogs with the Deans

This yummy tradition gives students a chance to meet our deans in a casual setting while enjoying free hotdogs and good conversation. It’s all about building community and making leadership approachable.

Fall Fest

A seasonal favorite, Fall Fest brings all the cozy vibes with games, music, snacks, and activities that celebrate autumn. It’s a great way to relax, connect, and enjoy the season with your fellow South Piedmont students.

Trunk or Treat

Students, employees, clubs, and organizations come together each October to put on this wonderful Halloween celebration for the children of Anson County. With decorated trunks, costumes, and lots of candy, it’s a sweet tradition.

Doughnuts with the President

Students get a chance to connect with South Piedmont’s president and leadership team while enjoying fresh doughnuts and coffee. This recurring event keeps communication open and friendly, one doughnut at a time.

MLK Day of Service

Honoring Dr. King’s legacy, South Piedmont’s MLK Day of Service encourages the College community to engage in a volunteer project as we partner with a different non-profit organization each January.

Graduation Fair

A one-stop shop for everything graduation! From ordering caps and gowns to getting info on next steps, the Graduation Fair is an exciting milestone that helps students prepare for their big day. Graduates have the opportunity to get photos taken in their cap and gown prior to the big day.

Spring Fling

Spring Fling is South Piedmont’s way of celebrating the end of the academic year with a bang. Think games, food trucks, music, and fun in the sun with the annual color run ending it all. It’s a vibrant send-off before finals and summer break.
