South Piedmont has contracted with Barnes & Noble College to provide textbooks, electronic resources, and campus spirit items beginning in summer 2025.  A physical location, the South Piedmont Campus Store, will open inside the Main Building on the Old Charlotte Highway campus in fall 2025. Barnes & Noble College will also host pop-up stores throughout the academic year at the L.L. Polk campus in Polkton. 

In partnership with Barnes & Noble College, South Piedmont is proud to offer the South Piedmont Saver Pack Program. South Piedmont Saver Pack is a textbook rental program that will ensure you have all of your required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and digital resources by the first day of class — with no need to shop around!

By opting into the South Piedmont Saver Pack program you will receive all of your course materials before the first day of class, save up to 50% on the cost of course materials each term, and benefit from highly personalized customer service, making your textbook experience quick, simple, and easy.

An important note: The South Piedmont Saver Pack program is only available to curriculum students. If you are taking a non-credit classes (aka “skills development” or aka “continuing education,” you will go to this link https://spcc.bncollege.com/ and select “Search Now.” Select your term, department, course number and section, then hit the “retrieve materials” button. Register for Classes

All curriculum students will be automatically enrolled in the South Piedmont Saver Pack program after they register. Once you’ve selected your courses, Barnes & Noble College will begin preparing your order.

Beginning 30 days prior to the first day of classes, you will receive an email to verify your order.

Receive Your Textbooks

You will receive an email notification when your order is ready. Your digital materials will be delivered for your courses within Canvas.

South Piedmont Savings Pack FAQ

We will be adding to this FAQ section as the South Piedmont Saver Pack program rolls out and new questions are posed by our students and employees. Please submit your questions to marketing@spcc.edu, and we will add them here as quickly as possible.

The South Piedmont Saver Pack program is a course material delivery model that simplifies your experience, lowers the cost of materials, and ensures you have access to all required course materials by the first day of class.

Through this innovative program, physical books are conveniently packaged and provided on a rental basis, and access to digital material is provided directly within the Canvas learning platform — all simply priced at $22 per credit hour. (Please note, the Saver Pack program is only available to curriculum students. Non-curriculum students may rent or purchase their materials through Barnes & Noble College, but prices will vary.)

At the end of the term, you will receive email reminders to return rented physical course materials.

There are many benefits of the South Piedmont Saver Pack program, including: You’ll be prepared beginning on the first day of class and all materials are available to you at the lowest possible price from the publisher. 

First, you register for your classes. Then Barnes & Noble College will start preparing your course materials. An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships or is available for pickup. Your digital materials will be delivered for your course within Canvas.

All curriculum students will be automatically enrolled in the South Piedmont Saver Pack program. The program is not available to those enrolled in non-curriculum courses, but non-curriculum students may still purchase their materials through Barnes & Noble College. 

We do not recommend that you opt out of the Saver Pack program as the materials are required by your instructor in order for you to complete the course. 

However, you do have the option to opt out of the South Piedmont Saver Pack program each semester during the opt-out window.The opt-out window opens 30 days prior to the day your class starts. 

By opting out, you will not receive your required materials in a convenient package and access to digital content will be removed after the opt-out window closes. When you opt out of the program, you opt out for all of your courses; you cannot opt in and out on a course-by-course basis.

To begin the opt-out process, please follow the instructions included in the emails you receive from Barnes & Noble College.

Regardless of whether you participate in the Saver Pack program or opt out, you are still responsible for completing all work assigned by your instructor. 

The program provides all required textbooks, eTextbooks, lab manuals, and access codes to eligible students.

The program does not include consumable course supplies that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kits, engineering kits or nursing kits.

Please note you must make your final selection by the opt-out window . 

No, your decision to opt in or out will apply to all of your courses.

Yes, you can use your financial aid to pay for the South Piedmont Saver Pack program, or you can pay for your textbooks and course materials out of pocket. Please note that in order to use your financial aid, you must have been awarded financial aid to attend South Piedmont. You may not use funds from a federal work-study award. You cannot use financial aid that you have been awarded to attend another college. If you are enrolled in a payment plan, this charge will be included in the payment plan calculations.

The South Piedmont Saver Pack program is available to curriculum students only. It is not available to continuing education students. If you are a continuing education student, you may purchase your materials through Barnes & Noble College or a retailer of your choice.

Students will receive a course charge on their student bill that says, “South Piedmont Saver Pack.” The charge is based on the number of credit hours per term. The rate is $22 per credit hour. For example, for a three-credit-hour course, the cost will be $66.

Non-curriculum students will follow the link included in their email to pay for materials purchased through Barnes & Noble College. 

Students will be responsible for purchasing their required course materials either through Barnes & Noble College spcc.bncollege.com or other outside retailers.

If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, you will be required to return any physical materials you have for the class you are dropping/withdrawing from. Follow the instructions in the email you receive from Barnes & Noble College on how to get the materials for the new classes you’re taking. The Campus Store is automatically notified of class drops/changes.
