South Piedmont’s Construction Management Technology program prepares individuals to supervise, manage, and inspect construction sites, buildings, and associated facilities. The program includes instruction in site safety, personnel supervision, labor relations, diversity training, construction techniques and documentation, scheduling, resource and cost control, bid strategies, rework prevention, construction insurance and bonding, accident management and investigation, applicable law and regulations, and communication skills. Students also learn the key knowledge and principles of carpentry, masonry, concrete finishing, electrical work, HVACR and plumbing. Graduates will be prepared to work as construction managers able to plan, coordinate, budget, and supervise construction projects from start to finish.Student Experience
As part of their coursework, students will interpret construction drawings, perform quality concrete and brickwork, frame walls, ceilings, and floors of a structure, and install the proper wiring and piping for electrical and plumbing systems.


Career Pathways
Adult students may begin the Construction Management Technology program by enrolling in the three-course, non-credit Construction Technology pathway, which prepares them to earn select construction-related credentials from the National Council for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
With these credentials, they may work entry-level positions in the construction trades. High school-age students may begin the Construction Management Technology program by completing the available CTE pathway while in high school.
As preparation for professional advancement, adult students may return to South Piedmont and continue their studies by enrolling in the Construction Management Technology certificate, or one of the two available AAS degree pathways.
