South Piedmont’s Second-Annual Savor the Flavor Event Raises $43,000 to Benefit Students

South Piedmont Community College’s second-annual Savor the Flavor event raised more than $43,000 to benefit students.

The event took place on May 5 at the Old Charlotte Highway campus in Monroe.  This year’s Savor the Flavor had a “Build Your Future at South Piedmont” theme that highlighted the College’s technical and trades programs. Industrial Systems Program Lead William Spencer and Welding Program Lead Marvin Tyson provided demonstrations to the audience. Student Victoria Bernash, who is working as a welding apprentice at McGee Corporation, spoke about why she chose to pursue a male-dominated career path.

South Piedmont President Dr. Maria Pharr and South Piedmont College Foundation Board Chair Chris Doyle also spoke at the event.

The sold-out crowd also enjoyed food and refreshments provided by Jon G’s Barbecue and Americana Beer, and entertainment by The Village Greene Band.

Organized by the South Piedmont Community College Foundation, Savor the Flavor raises funds to benefit students through sponsorships and ticket sales.

The next Savor the Flavor will take place on May 4, 2025.
