South Piedmont Community College will host its annual Spring Fling alongside NC SciFest on Monday, April 28, at the Old Charlotte Highway Campus, offering a full day of fun, hands-on learning, and community engagement.

This combined event brings together the excitement of Spring Fling with the curiosity and discovery of NC SciFest, creating an experience designed for attendees of all ages. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities, from interactive science experiences to games, entertainment, and a selection of food vendors offering both sweet and savory options. As part of Spring Fling, a dunk tank will give attendees the chance to see faculty and staff take the plunge, adding to the day’s interactive fun.

Director of Student Life, Engagement, and Leadership Dr. Alen Doty said, “I’m really proud of these students because they planned and carried out this entire event themselves. They worked incredibly hard and showed strong leadership skills to turn their ideas into something real that benefits the entire student body.”

As part of NC SciFest, attendees will also hear from keynote speakers Meteorologists Rachel Coulter and Lisa Villegas, who will share their expertise and insights into the field of meteorology.

Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences Dr. Rebecca Berry said, “By joining Spring Fling with NC SciFest, we’re giving attendees the opportunity to explore science and meet experts in the field, all while enjoying an exciting campus experience. We are especially excited for the South Piedmont community to engage with Meteorologists Rachel Coulter and Lisa Villegas from WBTV as part of this year’s programming.”

Whether attending to explore the world of science, connect with the community, or simply enjoy a festive spring atmosphere, visitors will find something for everyone throughout the day.

Community members, students, and families are encouraged to attend and take part in one of the College’s most anticipated annual events.
