South Piedmont Community College is excited to welcome students and employees to the new Old Charlotte Highway Campus Library, now located in the Main Building, Room 3168, next to the Campus Store.
The refreshed space officially reopens with a celebration on Monday, Jan. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m., featuring snacks and prizes for attendees.
The redesigned Library offers a more comfortable and inviting environment for students to study, collaborate, and relax between classes. While the space may be new, the Library continues to provide the same essential services students rely on, including printing, research assistance, study spaces, and books available for checkout.
“I am excited to have a refreshed and comfortable space for students to work and hang out in,” said Information Services Librarian Shelby Beard. “I love how cozy the new space is!”
Library hours remain unchanged, ensuring continued access for students throughout the week. The Library is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to the new physical space, the Library has expanded its services to include virtual “Book-A-Librarian” appointments. This new option allows students to schedule a 30-minute, one-on-one virtual meeting with a South Piedmont librarian for help with research, citations, or navigating library resources — making support more accessible than ever.
Director of Library Services Dana Glauner emphasized that the updated space and expanded services reflect the Library’s ongoing commitment to student success.
“We have students coming in to study and check out resources and they seem to really like our new space. I can’t wait until our Grand Opening celebration when we can really show it off.”
The Library invites all students, faculty, and staff to stop by during the Grand Re-Opening celebration to explore the new space, meet library staff, learn more about available resources, and have a chance to win a prize.
