In honor of the 10th National Apprenticeship Week, South Piedmont Community College’s Business & Workforce Solutions division hosted an Apprenticeship Appreciation Luncheon on Nov. 21.

The event took place in the College’s newly renovated Conference Center in Building A on the Old Charlotte Highway campus.

During the event, Director of Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning Russell Carpenter recognized the achievements of more than 39 apprentices and the 11 employer partners who support and mentor them.  Several local and state elected officials were in attendance to support the advancement of apprenticeships and the opportunities that they afford our local citizens.

City of Monroe Mayor Robert Burns presented a declaration on behalf of the City of Monroe. The apprentices in attendance represented diverse fields, ranging from manufacturing to education, highlighting the impact that apprenticeships can have across our workforce.
