The 2023-24 edition of South Piedmont Community College’s Revere Student Journal is now available in print and online.
Revere is an annual publication featuring academic and creative works produced by South Piedmont students.
“Every edition of Revere is special, but this one is exceptionally impressive,” said Visual Arts Program Lead Morganne Van Voorhis, who spearheads the Revere committee.
“We had a wide range of submissions, from opinion pieces to research-based papers and visual artworks in a variety of media, including sculpture, mixed media, digital art, drawings, and paintings. Pick up a copy and see for yourself the talent of South Piedmont’s students – you will be impressed.”
This year’s edition features the work of 19 students. To be included, students submit their works to the Revere committee, which is comprised of a diverse cross-section of South Piedmont’s faculty. The committee members individually rate each submission, and then averages are tallied. The top 20-25 submissions are included in that year’s edition.
“Students who are selected to be included in Revere are truly standouts amongst their peers. They should be proud of their accomplishments. Being included in Revere is a remarkable honor,” Van Voorhis said.
This year’s edition features an article written by Marcelina Chabot, who won the Revere’s “Day in the Life” contest. Students were asked to submit stories of their daily life as a South Piedmont student.
This year’s edition of Revere is available online and at select locations on campus, including the Library in the Main Building on the Old Charlotte Highway campus, 4209 Old Charlotte Highway in Monroe.
