South Piedmont Community College’s first round of Learning for Life courses is now open for registration. These short-term, affordable classes are designed for community members of all interests and backgrounds to explore a hobby, develop a skill, connect with others, and make time for something they enjoy.
Learning doesn’t have to be about a grade, a degree, or a career. Sometimes, learning is simply about doing something you’ve always wanted to try. It’s about staying curious, connecting with others, finding a new passion, or discovering a talent you didn’t know you had.”
— Learning for Life Director Tara Moss
Upcoming courses include:
- Birdwatching 101 — Oct. 3
- Disc Golf — Oct. 10
- Yoga & Pilates — Oct. 13
- Automotive Essentials — Oct.17 and Nov.14
- Farm to Table: Food Preservation — Oct.21
- Fall Flavor Favorites — Nov.18
- Homemade Holiday Treats — Dec. 2
As Learning for Life grows, South Piedmont plans to offer a variety of opportunities, from hands-on experiences and creative workshops to health and wellness, technology, hobbies and everyday life skills.
The program is designed to provide flexible opportunities for community members to learn in a way that fits their interests and lives. Courses may be offered in a variety of formats, locations, schedules, and lengths, with new opportunities added over time.
Community members can also help shape the future of Learning for Life by sharing their interests, knowledge and talents. Local experts, instructors, faculty, staff and community members can contribute to courses and help create learning opportunities that reflect the interests and experiences of the communities South Piedmont serves.
Course details, including locations, times, costs, registration information and updates, are available through FundFive.
