Paying for college can feel overwhelming, but students and families do not have to navigate the financial aid process alone. South Piedmont Community College will host FAFSA Day on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the College’s Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe.
The event will provide students and families with help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and understanding the financial aid process.
Financial aid experts will be available throughout the event to answer questions and provide one-on-one assistance with FAFSA applications. Attendees can also participate in breakout sessions covering financial aid options, including grants, scholarships, work-study and student loans.
“Completing the FAFSA is an important step for students who want to understand their financial aid options,” said Financial Aid Specialist Garren Janes. “FAFSA Day gives students and families an opportunity to get their questions answered and receive personalized support as they navigate the process.”
FAFSA Day is free and open to anyone planning to attend a college or university. Attendees do not have to be planning to attend South Piedmont to participate. Computers will be available for those who need access to technology to complete their FAFSA.
The event will also include free pizza and activities for younger children, making it easier for families to attend and receive the support they need.
Students considering South Piedmont will have an additional opportunity to connect with faculty and staff during the event. Representatives will be available to answer questions about academic programs, student services, and the South Piedmont experience.
