South Piedmont Community College invites Anson County residents to tour its renovated HVAC-R lab at an event that will also include free Jon G’s barbecue and a free performance by Charlotte-based band Weekend Friend.
Dubbed “The Coolest Night in Anson,” the event will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Sept. 3 at the L.L. Polk Campus, 680 US 74 in Polkton.
During the event, attendees will be able to tour the renovated HVAC-R lab, which includes new industry-standard training equipment purchased with funding provided by the Golden LEAF Foundation.
“We’ve completely transformed the HVAC-R lab, making it a state-of-the art training center that will prepare students to excel in this high-demand industry,” said Associate Vice President of Career & Workforce Development Kelly Stegall.
“We look forward to welcoming prospective students, community leaders, and anyone who is simply curious about careers in HVAC-R to tour the lab. You will be impressed.”
In addition to touring the renovated lab, attendees will also be able to meet with HVAC-R instructors, learn about the HVAC-R industry and career opportunities, and receive information about applying to South Piedmont.
The event will also feature free barbecue provided by Peachland-based Jon G’s, while supplies last. Charlotte-based band Weekend Friend, who will debut their new song “Make the Call.” The song was commissioned by South Piedmont and is inspired by the transformational changes that happen in students’ lives when they call South Piedmont Community College and begin their educational journeys.
