South Piedmont Community College students delivered an outstanding performance at the recent SkillsUSA State Competition, earning a total of 12 medals and qualifying two teams to compete at the national level.
SkillsUSA is a national organization that prepares students for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service fields through real-world competitions. South Piedmont students showcased their skills across a variety of areas, bringing home three gold medals, two silver medals, three bronze medals, three pewter medals, and one fifth-place finish (copper).
Highlights from the competition include gold medals in Additive Manufacturing and Criminal Justice, a silver medal in Welding Sculpture, and strong finishes in Public Speaking, Crime Scene Investigation, and Technical Drafting.
“Our students demonstrated remarkable determination, professionalism, leadership, and resilience throughout the competition,” said Director of Student Life, Engagement and Leadership Dr. Alen Doty. “They represented South Piedmont with excellence, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements.”
First-place winners will go on to represent South Piedmont at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, this June.
The College also recognizes the dedication of its faculty and coaches, whose mentorship and support played a critical role in student success.
South Piedmont Community College congratulates all participating students and looks forward to cheering on its national competitors.
