The Program Options

2 Years 74 Credit Hours
South Piedmont’s Construction Management Technology program will prepare you to supervise, manage, and inspect construction sites, buildings, and associated facilities. The program includes instruction in site safety, personnel supervision, labor relations, diversity training, construction techniques and documentation, scheduling, resource and cost control, bid strategies, rework prevention, construction insurance and bonding, accident management and investigation, applicable laws and regulations, and communication skills. You will also learn the key knowledge and principles of carpentry, framing, print reading, electrical, and plumbing. You will graduate prepared to work as a construction manager, coordinating, budgeting, and supervising construction projects from start to finish.

South Piedmont’s Construction Management Technology Sustainability program is much like our management degree, but this program also incorporates sustainability practices, green building design, energy efficiency, and an understanding of the science of building.

South Piedmont’s Construction Management Technology Certificate offers you an opportunity to gain a certificate in a year while still learning all the core principles of construction management. The courses will prepare you to read construction prints and oversee construction projects while scheduling inspections and following all code requirements.

South Piedmont’s Construction Management Technology CTE program allows high school students the opportunity to complete our certificate program while they are still attending high school. The courses will prepare you to read construction prints and oversee construction projects while scheduling inspections and following all code requirements.

Construction Management Technology is a degree program that prepares students to supervise, coordinate, inspect, and manage construction projects. Students learn construction methods, building codes, project planning, estimating, site safety, scheduling, and construction project management skills needed in today’s construction industry.

Graduates can pursue careers as construction managers, project coordinators, construction estimators, site supervisors, inspectors, project administrators, and other roles in the construction industry. Construction management professionals work with contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and government agencies.

Students gain practical knowledge in construction materials and methods, print reading, building codes, estimating, site safety, construction documentation, scheduling, resource management, and project coordination. Coursework is designed to help students understand both the technical and managerial aspects of construction projects.

Construction management is an excellent career choice for individuals who enjoy problem-solving, leadership, planning, and working in a fast-paced environment. The field combines technical construction knowledge with business and management skills, creating opportunities for career advancement and leadership positions.

No. South Piedmont’s Construction Management Technology program is designed for both students who are new to the construction industry and those who already have construction experience and want to advance into leadership or management roles.

Students study topics such as construction materials and methods, construction codes and inspections, print reading, estimating, sustainable building practices, site safety, and construction project management.

Many students begin their education at a community college to save money before transferring to a bachelor’s degree program. Students interested in transferring should work with an academic advisor to explore available transfer pathways and university partnerships.

The Associate in Applied Science degree in Construction Management Technology can typically be completed in about two years of full-time study. Students may also have part-time enrollment options available.
