College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the United States, with more than 2,900 colleges and universities awarding credit for satisfactory scores on CLEP exams.

Students can earn college credit for what they already know by passing a CLEP examination.

SPCC awards credit for 25 different CLEP exams. All exams are multiple-choice questions with a 90 minute time limit. The College Composition exam consists of 2 essays with a 120 minute time limit. These exams require college-level knowledge and critical thinking skills. In order to do well, students must spend sufficient time studying and preparing for these examinations. The cost of each examination is $89 (subject to change) and is paid online to College Board. SPCC charges a $20 non-refundable administration fee per exam to cover administrative costs and is paid on the day of your exam at the SPCC Business Office. If paying by check, please make the $20 administration fee payable to South Piedmont Community College. Cash, debit, and credit cards are also accepted. At the time of all CLEP test, students must have CLEP registration ticket, photo ID, and SPCC business office receipt.

Appointments are required for all tests.

CLEP Retest Guidelines: Students are authorized to retest every six (6) months on any CLEP test. Student must pay $20 CLEP administration fee to the business office and $89 (subject to change) test fee to CLEP online. At the time of the retest, students must have CLEP registration ticket, photo ID, and SPCC business office receipt.
