SPCC is one of fourteen community college partners in the N.C. Global Distinction Initiative, a program sponsored by UNC’s Worldview. Worldview is a public service organization at UNC whose mission is to provide global knowledge, experiences, and best practices to educators in K-12 and community colleges, so that they can prepare students for life in an interconnected and changing world.

Students in SPCC’s Global Scholars of Distinction program complete 5 curriculum courses with a global focus, attend 8 Passport events (Global events on campus or in the community), complete 30 hours of domestic global experience, and a capstone project with a mulit-media presentation.

Kayla Prince and Tristan Shea are also Career and College Promise students from Porter Ridge High School and are the first students in their cohort to complete CCP and continue to complete Associate in Arts degrees. They graduated from SPCC in May and Porter Ridge High School in June.
