South Piedmont Community College and North Carolina Wesleyan University on Monday celebrated a new agreement that provides South Piedmont graduates with guaranteed admission to NCWU.
“At South Piedmont, we often say that we meet students where they are — and take them wherever they want to go. This agreement creates a seamless pathway from South Piedmont to a bachelor’s degree from NCWU. This is very exciting news for our students. We thank NCWU for its partnership,” said South Piedmont Community College President Dr. Maria Pharr.
“Both South Piedmont and North Carolina Wesleyan are committed to continually innovating to remove barriers and expand educational opportunity. This agreement is a prime example of that commitment.”
Dr. Pharr and NCWU President Dr. Evan D. Duff signed the guaranteed admission agreement during an event on Monday, June 5, at South Piedmont’s Old Charlotte Highway campus.
“North Carolina Wesleyan University has been a leader in the state in partnering with community colleges. Our generous transfer policies, positive relationships with community college personnel, and a seamless admissions process for Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science students are some of the ways we support our community college graduates throughout the state. We are excited about this latest partnership with South Piedmont Community College,” Dr. Duff said.
The agreement between South Piedmont and North Carolina Wesleyan guarantees South Piedmont students who graduate with their Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation, Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation, Associate in Engineering, Associate in Fine Arts, Associate in Applied Science, or Associate of Nursing degree with admission to any of NCWU’s traditional programs. South Piedmont graduates may also transfer into one of NCWU’s Adult and Professional studies programs, giving them ability to take classes online or in the evening.
This is South Piedmont’s ninth agreement guaranteeing graduates admission to a four-year institution. Learn more about South Piedmont’s transfer opportunities here: https://spcc.edu/areas-of-study/university-transfer-programs/
