Public Speaking and Professional Charisma Course Description

Target Audience: Leads, Supervisors and Managers

Participants in this workshop will learn to describe the basic elements of Public Speaking and  explain Public Speaking Anxiety (PSA), as well as develop techniques to manage it.  They will understand the importance of audience analysis and speech purpose. In addition, they will learn to recognize and master their non-verbal communication skills. This course will also help learners describe different types of speeches and their requirements, including persuasive speeches, impromptu speeches, and special occasion speeches. Finally, the student will learn about logical fallacies and how to avoid them.

Difficult Conversations Course Description

Target Audience: Leads, Supervisors and Managers

Each of us has a habitual way of listening – a way of fitting what we hear into our preconceived notions. We are captives of our way of listening, often unaware that what we “hear” is not what others are saying. In regard to conflict, we all need criticism. It is a part of learning. What we don’t need is the anger, defensiveness, frustration and conflict that are so often associated with criticism. This session helps participants learn how to open up communications among all the employees in the organization. 

Topics covered include: 

  • Effective Communication and Active Listening 
  • The continuum of aggressive to passive behavior and appropriate behavior. 

    • “Attentional Blindness” –how we can become so busy managing the needs of the business that we are often blind to the immediate needs of our employees. 

    • The 6 most common barriers to listening.

    • Seeking first to understand – the core to resolution and to being understood. 

    • Understanding the value of active listening and its impact on involvement
