Benefits

North Carolina State Health Plan

All full-time employees are eligible for health insurance coverage under the North Carolina State Health Plan (SHP)  through Blue Cross Blue Shield. Open enrollment occurs during the month of October, and benefits are active for the following calendar year.

Supplemental Insurance Plans

South Piedmont offers full-time employees a variety of optional supplemental insurance plans available through payroll deduction, pre-tax where applicable, to meet the needs of our diverse workforce. Plans are available for dental, vision, short term disability, long term disability, accident coverage, cancer coverage, hospital indemnity, life insurance, etc.

North Carolina Teachers and State Employees’ Retirement System

All full-time employees are members of and contribute monthly the North Carolina Teachers and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS).

After completing 5 years of service with the state, employees are considered vested under the TSERS and are eligible to receive a monthly retirement benefit at the time of retirement.
