Required Deductions
The state is required by law to deduct the following from your paycheck:
- Federal and state withholding taxes
- State retirement contributions
- Social Security taxes
- Absences from work not covered by authorized leave credits
If you have not paid federal, state, city and county tax liens, child support or other debts authorized by the courts for garnishment, they may also be deducted directly from your pay.
Optional Deductions
Other deductions may also be made from your paycheck if you request and authorize them. Among these are:
- Voluntary insurance premiums
- Loan and mortgage payments
