South Piedmont’s full-time employees are paid their annual salary in 12 equal payments. Monthly payments are made via direct deposit on the last working day of each month. The payroll calendar details exact pay dates. Note that December is the only month in which payments are deposited prior to the month’s end.
Employees may choose to have payroll divided into multiple banks/accounts. Any changes to federal or state tax withholdings or direct deposit information must be submitted to the payroll office by the 5th in order for it to be effective that month.
Full-time employees may view their pay advices as follows:
- Log in to Active Campus Portal using your username and password
- Click “Click to View Pay Advices” on the right-hand side of the page under “Faculty/Staff Quick Links”

Legislative Salary Increases
The North Carolina General Assembly determines general salary increases for state employees. They decide on the amount of funding and how increases will be given (such as across-the-board increases). These decisions are usually announced in the summer months toward the end of each legislative session.
Longevity Pay
Longevity pay is designed for employees who provide long-term service to the State of North Carolina and is calculated by multiplying the employee’s annual base salary rate as of the eligibility date by the appropriate percentage, rounded to the nearest dollar, in accordance with the following table:
Years of Aggregate State Service | Longevity Pay Rate |
10 but less than 15 years | 1.50% |
15 but less than 20 years | 2.25% |
20 but less than 25 years | 3.25% |
25 or more years | 4.50% |
