Health Sciences Pathways

Classes are available at South Piedmont campuses in Monroe and Polkton, as well as online. Some may even be offered at your high school. These classes follow structured pathways and are aligned with the K-12 curriculum and North Carolina’s Career and College Ready Standards. Eligible high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors can enroll in these CTE pathways.

If you’re organized and love helping patients navigate the healthcare system, this pathway is for you. You’ll gain skills in medical law, ethics, billing, coding, and much more. Become a key part of any healthcare team, helping ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Work directly with patients to understand their needs. You’ll learn about medical terminology, billing, customer relations, and more. You’ll be the face of a medical office, helping patients feel comfortable and cared for.

Medical Assistants are the backbone of clinics. You’ll learn everything from medical terminology to anatomy, office procedures, and patient care. Get ready for hands-on experience in medical settings and prepare to assist doctors and nurses in patient care.

If you want to work directly with patients and help with their daily care, becoming a Nurse Aide is a great first step into healthcare. This pathway will prepare you to work in hospitals or nursing homes, giving you experience with basic patient care.

Get the essential skills to start a career as a Nurse Aide. You’ll learn about patient care, medical terminology, and how to assist nurses with important tasks. It’s a perfect introduction to healthcare if you want hands-on experience.
