Leadership

The South Piedmont Leadership Experience

The CTLL will ignite the leadership potential of our educators through knowledge sharing and experiential learning opportunities.   We encourage and develop agile thought processes in areas such as strategic decision making and collaboration from every educator, so that they may lead from where they are.  This begins with the South Piedmont Leadership Experience.

Creating a Vision and Embracing Change: Appreciative Inquiry

We learn about how to have a vision and embrace change through Values-based Leadership and Appreciative Inquiry (AI).   These are strengths-based, positive approaches to leadership development and organizational change.  We read “Conversations Worth Having” by Cheri Torres and Jackie Stavros in order to learn more about what this means for our daily interactions and relationships.

Knowing Thyself:  Strengths Based Leadership

We learn about Knowing Thyself through CliftonStrengths.  We identify the areas where we have the greatest potential for optimizing personal and collective strength.  We look at patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior.  We think about how we can leverage our own potential and that of others.  We read “Strengths Based Leadership” by Don Clifton and complete the CliftonStrengths assessment to help us on this journey.

Connecting with Others:  The 360 Degree Leader

We learn about Connecting with Others and 360 Degree Leadership.  We understand that good leaders are not only capable of leading their followers but are also adept at leading their superiors and their peers.  According to John Maxwell “Leaders can lead effectively, regardless of their position in an organization.”  We look at how to expand our influence and ultimately be a more valuable team member.  Finally, we read the “360 Degree Leadership” book.
