Bathanti Visits Polkton Campus

Students listen to Banthanti reading in AuditoriumPOLKTON – On Friday, November 15, 2019, former Poet Laureate of North Carolina (2012-2014) and winner of the 2016 North Carolina Award for Literature, Joseph Bathanti, visited South Piedmont Community College at the LL Polk Campus, in the Garibaldi Auditorium.

During the hour-long talk, Bathanti read from his books, including Anson County, and answered student questions about his publishing career. Bathanti also shared his love of reading and stories, and reflected on the importance of school, home, and family in his writing career. Bathanti was hosted by South Piedmont Community College’s Poetry Club under the auspices of its adviser, Ryan Brown.
