Firefighter Certification

2022 Firefighter Certification Courses

South Piedmont Community College Firefighter Certification courses consist of 16 blocks of classes.  After successful completion of all 16 courses and tests, students are qualified to apply for the Fire Fighter I & II Fire and Rescue Commission IFSAC Certification through the NC Office of State Fire Marshall.

Any student interested in participating in the 2022 Firefighter Certification courses must:
  1. Contact Rhonda Weaver at rweaver@spcc.edu for a registration form for the block of classes they would like to start in.
  2. Students must be at least 16 years old (but cannot participate in live fire classes, nor hold a Firefighter Certification until age 18 as per state regulations)
  3. Purchase the course textbook, Fundamentals of Fire Fighter Skills and Hazardous Materials Response Fourth Edition with Navigate Advantage Access –  ISBN: 9781284151336 before class starts. You can purchase the book here.
  4. All students are required to provide their own Personal Protective Equipment for each course.  (PPE for each class is listed with the courses below)
  5. Attendance is required on the first day of class due to the state’s required 10% Census time falling within the 1st day of class.

The first day of class is located at OCH-Monroe campus, Braswell building, room 2504.  Additional class location information will be available ton he first day of class. Please contact Director of Fire/Rescue Training Sam Bishop at tbishop@spcc.edu if you have further questions.

Fire/Rescue Continuing Education

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Continuing Education Training topics vary; most are offered at VFDs throughout Union and Anson Counties
