ATC EMT 4200C

EMT for Certified Athletic Trainers

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The emergency medical technician course instructs students on the essential knowledge, skills, and affective behavior required for certification.  Students will attend classroom lectures, complete quizzes and tests, and practice skills.  Students will complete 48 hours of field experience.  The course culminates in a comprehensive final exam and technical scope of practice to ensure cognitive and skill mastery. Successful completion of the course allows students to register for the North Carolina and/or the National Registry EMT certification exam. 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Watch the Mandatory EMT Information Session and submit the follow-up Quiz (links are below)
  • A current driver’s license
  • High School Diploma/GED Certificate or completion of CASAS reading evaluation
  • A current BLS CPR card
  • Must be a Certified Athletic Trainer

Instructor Methodology

Course Description

This course covers the information needed to develop and instruct EMS courses. Topics include instructional methods, lesson plan development, time management skills, and theories of adult learning. Upon completion, students should be able to teach EMS courses and meet the North Carolina EMS requirements for instructor methodology.

Pre-Requisites

  • Be currently credentialed as an EMT, AEMT, Paramedic
  • Provide a copy of your Associate Degree or higher
  • Submit an EMS Program Application EMS Application

Registrations are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis of completed steps listed in the checklist. We cannot reserve or save seats for anyone.
