Our Heavy Equipment Operator Academy teaches the skills you need for any project that requires moving and transporting heavy materials, or that demands any kind of earthmoving.
Prepare to earn the nationally-recognized Heavy Equipment Operations Level I, II, and III certifications from the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER). The courses include hands-on lab time operating min-excavators and similar equipment, and are taught at the SPCC Tyson Family Center for Technology, and on-site at the Monroe location of Ironpeddlers.
HEO-3100A: Heavy Equipment Operations – Level I (Approx. 96 hours)
Course Description
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of heavy equipment operator responsibilities, heavy equipment safety and career opportunities. Topics include orientation to the trade; heavy equipment safety; identification of heavy equipment; basic operational techniques; utility trailers; introduction to earthmoving, and grades. The course is aligned with the NCCER Heavy Equipment Operations Level I credential. Students wishing to sit for the NCCER Heavy Equipment Operations Level I Certification are highly advised to also enroll in CAR 3108C: Trades Essentials. Approx. six hours of instruction will take place at the Monroe location of Ironpeddlers; the instructor will provide a detailed schedule.
