Economic & Workforce Development – Business & Industry Training

We are focused on providing the latest training available to enhance the skills of your incumbent and future workforce needs. Business and Industry Training is dedicated to respond to the needs of local organizations by assisting with the identification and implementation of customized training solutions. Instructors and curriculum will be identified, or developed, based upon the outcomes required by the organization.

Business and Industry Training provides contract training to businesses, industries, non-profit organizations and government agencies with operations located in Anson and Union counties. Individual training proposals and service agreements outlining the scope of the project and total costs to the customer organization prior to delivery of the training.

NCWorks Customized Training Program

The NCWorks Customized Training Program provides customized training assistance in support of full-time production and direct customer service positions. South Piedmont Community College will work with your organization to foster and support three key aspects of your company’s well-being: 1) Job Growth, 2) Technology Investment and 3) Productivity Enhancement

Eligible Industries include:

  • Manufacturing
  • Information Technology
  • Life Sciences
  • Warehousing
  • Air-Courier Services
  • National Headquarters

Companies must demonstrate two or more of the following criteria:

  • The business is making an appreciable capital investment
  • The business is deploying new technology
  • The business is creating jobs, expanding an existing workforce, or enhancing the productivity and profitability of the operations within the State; and
  • The skills of the workers will be enhanced by the assistance.

Examples of Customized Training include but are not limited to:

  • Current Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Food Safety
  • Technical Writing Skills
  • Lean/Six Sigma
  • Problem Solving
  • Vendor training on equipment or workplace standards
  • Leadership
  • Team Communication
  • Safety
  • ISO
  • Software Training
