North Carolina State Retirement System
All full-time employees are members of the North Carolina Teachers and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS). Employees contribute 6% of compensation to the retirement system, which is matched by the state at 15.32% (2015-16 rate; subject to change each fiscal year).
Employees may view their retirement accounts and make changes to beneficiaries as follows:
After completing 5 years of service with the state, employees are considered vested under the TSERS and are eligible to receive a monthly retirement benefit at the time of retirement.
